Trans Hex ups H1 diamond output in Angola

10 november 2014
Trans Hex has increased production at its 33 percent-owned Somiluana mine in Angola to 44 400 carats in the first six months of the financial year ended September 2014.
The company produced 35 779 carats a year earlier.
It said the increase in the first half output was a result of a 40.1 percent increase in grade, partly offset by a decrease of 11.4 percent in volumes treated.
TransHex also said that Somiluana’s total sales increased to $21.3 million at an average price of $513 per carat.
Meanwhile, Trans Hex said production from its South African operations had increased by 48.5 percent to 32 450 ct in the first six month of this financial year from 21 849 ct in the first half of the previous year.
