Participants of 2nd International Jewellery Economic Forum discussed current industry issues

02 october 2014
2nd Edition of International Jewelry Economic Forum took place in Moscow. The participants discussed the challenges facing Russian jewelry industry, including possible ways of coming to foreign markets.
President of Russian Jewelers Guild Association Gagik Gevorkyan opened the event, reports.
President of Trade and Commerce Chamber Sergey Katyrin greeted the guests and said that in Russia there are unique materials and masters capable of creating unique jewelry items.
Within the frame of Eurasia Economic Union new opportunities for the industry will appear, according to Katyrin.
The issue of foreign market presence was also touched upon. The necessary participation in exhibitions is quite expensive, thus governmental support programs are essential if Russian jewelers want to come to international market.
As it was noted, China had once done the same and today its jewelry production is in demand across the world.
World-recognized jewelry houses eagerly purchase Russian polished diamonds, though only experts are aware of the fact that they use Russian stones.
In relation to the issue Katyrin informed, that Russian Trade and Commerce Chamber has been doing a sound work aimed at Russian enterprising participation in fairs and congresses. So jewelry business has an authority to appeal to. Territorial TC chambers are also engaged in the activity.
Katyrin emphasized that the issue should be addressed collectively.
