GJEPC postpones its election by three months

04 september 2014
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India has postponed its elections by three months. The elections, which were scheduled in September 2014, will now be held in the month of November 2014 as reported in ‘Art of Jewellery’ citing Pankaj Parekh, Vice Chairman, GJEPC.
Pankaj Parekh reportedly said, “As there are some amendments required in the association article, we have postponed the elections of GJEPC by three months. Earlier, the chairman was elected by the elected members (regional) of the association, which was not the correct process. A chairman has to be elected by the members of the association and not by the elected members. Also, there were few more changes that had to be reviewed and amended before holding the elections.”
