Trutnev: Russia Will Establish a Diamond Exchange

At the latest meeting on the issues of diamond industry development held in Yakutia Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President at the Far East Federal District of Russia Yury Trutnev announced instructions to work out establishment of a diamond exchange in Russia, Rossijskaya Gazeta reported.
Attendees of the meeting, featuring president of the Republic of Sakha Egor Borisov, senior officials of Ministry on Far East Development, representatives of AK ALROSA, federal and regional agencies, and business community, discussed financial and economic position of ALROSA.
According to Yury Trutnev, the company is the leader in both Russian and global diamond industry and it should make a point of economic and social policy.
Trutnev charged the Ministry of the Far East Development in cooperation with ALROSA and the Government of the Republic of Sakha with preparation of proposals for creation of balanced and comprehensive development strategy including implementation of social projects: construction of housing facilities, job creation, construction and maintenance of communal and social infrastructure.
According to Trutnev, diamond cutting and jewellery industry shall become growth areas of the republic.
“Natural riches of our country shall be processed within the country and we shall contribute to extended value addition on the territory of Russia,” – Trutnev noted.
