After Luxemburg, Belgium woos Indian diamantaires

28 february 2014

Karl Van Den Bossche, Consulate General of Belgium, along with his team members including Trade and Investment Commissioner, was in Surat a few days ago, promising easy bank financing and relaxation in the tax structure to the small and medium diamond traders, according to TOI.
Dinesh Navadia, President, Surat Diamond Association (SDA) said, "The consulate general of Belgium is very keen to help the small and medium entrepreneurs with easy bank finance and relaxation in the present tax structure. Even the Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT) of Belgium has promised all round support to the SMEs"
This offer from Belgium comes just about a week after Gaston Stronck, ambassador of Luxembourg to India visited Surat and urged the diamond company owners from the SME sector to set up their offices in Luxembourg to enjoy tax benefits and easy bank finance at the rates lower than 4 per cent.
