Industrial Park of Diamond Complex to be Established in Yakutsk

Industrial park focused on development of diamond complex will be launched in Yakutsk in 2014, according to a statement by Economy Minister of Republic Yakutia Olga Fyodorova cited by ITAR-TASS.
“Industrial park aimed at promotion and development of diamond complex of Yakutia is being established in form of special economic zone with priority development. It will pave a way to expand polished diamond production to $5 billion per year. Operators located within the park will enjoy favorable conditions including 5 year tax breaks offered to entrepreneurs involved in diamond mining, manufacturing and exports of polished diamonds.”
“It is noteworthy that the industrial park will be constructed based on private investments by corporate stakeholders,” – Fyodorova stressed.
Following the results of 2013 Yakutia’s sales of rough and polished diamonds reached $4.8 billion having posted 5.1% growth compared to 2012.
In addition to industrial park of the diamond complex in Yakutsk, the territory of South Yakutia is poised to host an industrial cluster involved in downstream sector including processing of minerals, natural gas, apatite, coal, iron ore and uranium. Meanwhile establishment of gold mining industrial cluster is mulled in northern part of Yakutia.
