Israel Diamond Exchange Launches Diamond Tender Facility

10 february 2014

The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) will be holding its very own rough diamond tender during the International Rough Diamond Week (IRDW) that will be held March 9 to 13, 2014. The IDE's rough diamond tender is open to all reputable diamond sellers who wish to submit a parcel of rough at a value not lower than $50,000. The establishment of the IDE's own rough diamond tender facility is yet another effort by the bourse to create more added value for the IDE membership and raise the banner of the bourse as one of the world's leading diamond businesses centers, according to press release e-mailed to Rough&Polished.
"Our endeavor is to increase the volume of rough diamond trading in Israel," IDE deputy president Arnon Juwal, who heads the IRDW organizing committee, said. "Our tender is a rough diamond tender of consolidated market goods, from around the world, from melee to single stones, in all qualities. Parcels can be submitted at a value of $50,000 and up."
Juwal said he is confident the tender will attract sellers - and buyers - from all centers. "At the Ramat Gan diamond exchange complex, we have in place the best infrastructure, a young, highly entrepreneurial membership that is eager to build the rough diamond business up further. We therefore invite our international counterparts to come and submit their rough diamond parcels to the IDE tender that will take place in March," he said.
IDE president Shmuel Schnitzer said that the March IRDW and the IDE rough diamond tender are all part of his administration's efforts to bring new, value adding initiatives to the table. "In the high-tech industry, Israel is known as 'Start-up Nation,'" he continued. "My board and I want to emulate that endeavor, and take our country to the forefront of the world's mind when it talks and thinks about diamonds, including rough diamond trading," he added.
The IDE tender will be executed on behalf of IDE by Fusion/Hennig Tenders.
A diverse series of rough diamond tenders will be held during the five-day event. Among the companies who will stage rough diamond tenders are Alrosa, De Beers Auction Sales, Rio Tinto Diamonds, Fusion/Hennig Tenders, and Tzoffey's.
