Botswana Diamonds identifies 13 highly prospective sites for diamondiferous kimberlites

14 december 2012

Botswana Diamonds has extended a technical cooperation agreement with its project partner until June 2014 following the successful exploration of the Orapa diamond cluster.
This meant that there would be two separate programmes running simultaneously, which are target identification as well as detailed exploration and drilling.
The Aim-listed diamond junior said in a statement emailed to Rough&Polished that 13 specific sites had been identified in the northeast area of Botswana which they believe were highly prospective for diamondiferous kimberlites.
Prospecting licence applications have been lodged over the relevant ground.
“Once permission to explore in these areas has been obtained, a $1 million exploration programme will commence which may involve all or some of the following: gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic surveys, systematic soil sampling and eventually drilling,” it said.
Botswana Diamonds said it had budgeted to drill 40 holes.
