Search for JV partners to develop SA, Botswana projects still on -Tawana

14 september 2009

Diamond junior Tawana Resources says it is still searching for joint-venture (JV) partners to help develop its South African and Botswana projects.
In South Africa the projects include the Kareevlei kimberlitic project and the Alluvial project, in the Kimberley region.
The Alluvial project encompasses two alluvial deposits, the Feeder Channel and the Eastern Gravels, which extend from 300 m from the De Beers owned Finsch mine for a distance of about 18 km from the mine.
The proposed next stage for the Tawana Alluvial project was a large-scale operating trial mining. Tawana noted that it has not activated this proposal and would not do so until it has the required funds.
It said that it was further looking for a JV partner to assist in the further exploration of its Orapa diamond project, in Botswana following the termination of a JV agreement with Nowak Investment in May this year.
Nowak Investments had to conduct and solely fund an excavation programme including the bulk sampling of the BK24 kimberlite, in order to earn a 51 percent stake in the project.
The Orapa kimberlite field is one of the largest diamondiferous kimberlite fields in the world, containing 79 known kimberlites.
