Kopane Diamond say Lesotho main pipe resource estimate up 141pc

11 september 2009

Kopane Diamond Developments has reported a 141 percent increase in indicated resource to 38.6 million tonnes.
"The estimated main pipe value of USD2.6 billion could be increased significantly following further work to clarify grade and from the impact of bonanza stones," the Aim-listed diamond producer said in a statement.
Kopane said the indicated kimberlite category at the main pipe of 38.6 million tonnes represented over 15 years of production at over one million carats a year, which also better supports project financing alternatives for construction of a new processing plant.
It said that it was reviewing the feasibility of a further significant bulk sample from the areas of the main pipe at Lesotho's Liqhobong Production and Development Project, which have already produced large stones.
“The company is ... confident that the main pipe will yield further large stones, although the proportion of which will be of gem quality is unclear,” Kopane said.
