KIG Mining to abandon West Africa for Southern Africa’s diamonds, gold

KIG Mining, which diamond and gold mining right in Liberia says that it is considering shifting its operations in the West African country to intensify mining operations in Southern Africa, a region, rich in diamonds and gold.
“The motive behind this move of focal point is the reduction of the risks in West Africa and to exploit higher volume production,” company president and chief executive Vicken Kaprelian said.
He said a complete business and operational plan would be announced in due time.
Kaprelian said KIG Mining was negotiating with several miners to acquire various mining operations, both diamond and gold in southern Africa.
“These acquisition (negotiations) are progressing swiftly due to the strong funding backing the company,” he claimed.
The southern Africa region houses countries such as Botswana, Angola, South Africa and Namibia, all known for huge reserves in diamonds.
