The Chinese will extract gold even from lean ore

17 march 2009

Despite the difficult financial situation, the Tongguan Company is completing the construction of a processing plant to treat “problem” gold ore at the rate of 200 tons per day, which was started in 2008, according to the Mineral, an information and analytical center. At the current stage, the company is building a hydro-metallurgical workshop. Pilot production is to be launched in April 2009, as reported by the Chinese gold mining network.

Producing gold from "problem" ore is a vital task for the Chinese mining industry. It stems from low quality of raw minerals in the majority of Chinese mineral deposits. Tongguan is actively investing into expansion of its own production facilities. For instance, in 2008 it built up its capacity of lead smelting having spent over ¥388 million for this purpose.
