Visitors at March Hong Kong Fair down by 5%

Attendance to the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, which was held from March 4 to 8, is reported to have dropped by 5 percent on the first four days of the fair.  

While the number of overseas buyers was down by 15 percent, the good news was that the number of local buyers rose by 11 percent, and that a notable increase of buyers came from emerging markets, including South America, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, to source from over 2,300 exhibitors at the fair.  

According to figures provided by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the organiser of the fair, the following countries showed the biggest jump in the number of buyers - Argentina (up 41 percent), Chile (up 18 percent), mainland China (up 12 percent), Czech Republic (up 9 percent), Philippines (up 2 percent), Poland (up 36 percent), Saudi Arabia (up 13 percent), Tanzania (up 33 percent), Tunisia (up 45 percent) and Vietnam (up 6 percent).
