The GIA has updated its iD100 diamond-testing device

news_08062018_gia.pngThe GIA's (Gemological Institute of America) iD100 diamond-testing device can now test and identify natural pink diamonds and distinguish them from laboratory-grown (HPHT and CVD) diamonds and synthetic products, israelidiamond reported.
The GIA has also updated the GIA iD100 software “with the expanded capability to screen blue-to-green and brown diamonds”. The software reportedly costs $249 but is available on new devices.
Tom Moses, GIA executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer was quoted as saying: “These two significant improvements make proper identification of laboratory-grown diamonds more easily accessible to retailers and manufacturers around the world by expanding capabilities of the GIA iD100. This is part of our mission to ensure the public trust in gems and jewelry”.
