China reports a 3.5% rise in 1H jewellery sales

national_bureau_of_statistics_of_china_logo.pngChina’s the National Bureau of Statistics has revealed that jewellery sales in China rose 3.5 per cent year on year during the first half of 2019.
According to the government data, sales of gold, silver and jewellery in June alone registered a 7.8 per cent increase, reflecting an upward trend since April.
In March, retail transactions in the jewellery category fell 1.2 per cent but recovered slightly in April, recording a 0.4 per cent increase.
Total retail sales of consumer goods in China surged 8.4 per cent in the first half of the year.
