The Gem and Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) and Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) - India Chapter organised ‘Design Connect 2019 in Mumbai on June 26 to help jewellery designers connect and collaborate with manufacturers and retailers. The event, which was well received, witnessed more than 35 jewellery manufacturers and retailers conducting interview rounds with 100+ jewellery designers.
Nirupa Bhatt, President, WJA – India Chapter moderated a panel discussion on the topic, “Designers – Path to Success.” With panellist drawn from the Indian jewellery sector, who  The panellists shared insights on how jewellery designers can seek inspirations, understand jewellery manufacturing techniques, identify trends, build stories and come up with exciting designs to meet consumers’ demands.
Sanjay Kothari, Chairman, GJSCI, said, “Looking at the response and the need, GJSCI is planning to conduct Design Connect in other cities too. Events of such kind would also be organised for other segments of the gem and jewellery industry for job seekers in the future. While recruiting companies at the event expressed considerable happiness with the quality of the designers and complimented GJSCI and WJA for putting Design Connect together, designers too felt pleased that ‘Design Connect’  provided access to many companies in one place.”
