The President of ALROSA Andrey Zharkov met with the chairman of the administrative council of the Angolan national diamond mining company Endiama António Carlos Sumbula.
The sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation.
ALROSA is a co-founder of the Catoca diamond mining company (share in the authorized capital is 32.8%). Catoca operates in the Lunda Sul province in the Republic of Angola.
In 2014, Alrosa and Endiama, which own a 32.8-percent stake in the Catoca each, established a joint venture for diamond exploration in the country.
In 2016, a new exploration company KIMANG started to implement the production program. In Angola, ALROSA is involved in a sizeable Luachi diamond project, one of the world's largest kimberlite diamond mines.
Currently, Alrosa has 6 projects of various technological content in three African countries: Angola, Botswana and South Africa. The company deals with extraction and sale of diamonds, prospecting of diamonds, supply and service of equipment for the needs of the diamond industry, production and sale of electricity at hydropower plants owned by ALROSA.
