ALROSA will hold a tentative show of diamonds for Asian markets at Vladivostok Economic Forum

17 march 2016
(TASS) - ALROSA will conduct a tentative display of diamonds for the Asian markets on the sidelines of the Vladivostok Economic Forum in September 2016. This was said to reporters by Alexey Moiseev, Russia’s Deputy Finance Minister.
“If it will be possible, we shall have a display of diamonds on the Russky Island within the frames of the Vladivostok Forum in early September. They used to run such shows there from time to time, so it would be good to have such a selling exhibition on the Russky Island,” Alexey Moiseev said. “So far, this will be a pilot event, the first of its kind,” he pointed out.
“As for the diamond exchange there, its [infrastructure] is not yet very ready, and it is being prepared by a branch of ALROSA in Vladivostok in order to run displays of some part of diamonds produced by the company in Vladivostok,” he added.
Alexey Moiseev also said that at this stage it is necessary to simplify the customs clearance procedure for diamonds. “We have a well-known problem here – it is difficult for us to take diamonds to all those exhibitions and then bring them back,” he explained. For this reason, it is easier to hold an exhibition in Vladivostok than, for example, in Dubai.
