How mine tailings could help in the fight against climate change

(thewest.com.au) - An international research team is investigating the use of natural bacteria to accelerate carbonation of mine site tailings, a process which could see the waste product used to combat climate change. Scientists have discovered cultivation of cyanobacteria on certain mine tailings such as diamond, nickel and asbestos, can rapidly advance the rate at which carbon sequestration occurs.
