“From Russia with Love” is opening Jewellery Show in Hong Kong

09.03.2010

"From Russia with Love" was the theme of the Cocktail Reception which celebrated the opening of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2010. Industry players, VIP buyers and members of the international media came together to enjoy the evening’s entertainment.
The fair also reflects the incredible diversity of items in the jewellery industry through its many specialist themed zones. Specific highlights include the Hall of Fame, which features international jewellery brands famed for their exquisite design and workmanship, and the Hall of Extraordinary, a discrete and elegant setting for pieces created with superior craftsmanship.
Buyers at this five-day event include importers, wholesalers, retailers from department stores and specialist jewellery boutiques, designers and stylists. They come from around the world to find precisely the kind of high-quality, competitively priced jewellery which customers demand.
At the seminar "Latest National Standard for Diamond, Jade and Pearl in Chinese Mainland", Ms Wang Manjun, Secretary-General, National Committee on Jewelry and Jade of Standardization Administration of China, and Mr Lan Yan, Vice Director of Shenzhen Laboratory, National Gemstone Testing Centre, give the audience their insights on the latest standards for the classification of diamonds, jade and pearls.
Gaetano Cavalieri, President of World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO), Member of Global J-ID Management Label Scheme Advisory Committee and Louis Lo, and other prominent participants addressed the issue of "Global J-ID Management Label Scheme" introduced in Hong Kong.
In the opinion of some of the participants of this jewelry show, it plays a key role in the jewelry business across this region and offers an excellent floor for developing business. The number of participants and exhibition area are growing from year to year. Peter Engel, President, Fred Meyer Jewelers, USA, said, “Consumer confidence is coming back strongly. We have been opening new stores and will operate 390 to 400 stores in USA by the fourth quarter of this year. Hong Kong International Jewellery Show offers a full breath of products. It’s well organised and the hospitality is fantastic. We can walk around comfortably and stay focused on building relationship with potential suppliers. It’s a very productive journey. We’ve already identified some interesting items for our additional collections."
