Resource center School of Diamond Cutting of College of Entrepreneurship No. 11

The history of RC School of Diamond Cutting of College of Entrepreneurship No. 11 (hereinafter called School of diamond cutting) dates back to 1968 when vocational-technical school #150 was established by decree of the Council of Ministers of USSR signed by A.N.Kosygin. H.Y.Nurmukhamedov became the first head of the school.
In 1969 School of diamond cutting conducted the first recruitment of students and in 1970 the first graduates were employed by Moscow factory Kristall.
On 18 December of 1970 V.N.Drykin being a graduate of School of Diamond Cutting created the first polished diamond- this date is considered to be the date of foundation of the enterprise. Consequently the School was set to become affiliated with Moscow factory Kristall.

During its forty-year-long history School of diamond cutting trained over 5,000 professional diamond cutters.
At present a total of 162 students study at School of diamond cutting, this year 65 of them will graduate from the School.
The major social partners of the School are Gokhran and S.D.Diamond Ltd. which serve as employers of graduates of School of diamond cutting.

In 2009 the College became a member of The Guild of Jewellers of Russia. In May, 2009 the College hosted a roundtable devoted to official launch of Recourse center aimed at training of specialists in diamond industry. Following the results of the roundtable council of RC School of Diamond Cutting was established consisting of Gokhran of Russia, Executive committee of CIS, Department of Education of Moscow, Brillianty Alrosa Ltd., KGK Enterprises, S.D.Diamond Ltd., Diapur Ltd.

Studying at School of diamond cutting enables students to get professional skills in the context of actual production and to develop their skills and qualification  of diamond cutters in the mode of in-service training.

In the course of education students master the following skills and technologies:

- complete cutting of rough diamond into polished diamond;
- grading and classification of rough stock;
- marking of rough stock (SARIN, HELIUM);
- laser and mechanical cutting;
- automated and mechanical roughing cut;
- evaluation of polished diamonds;
- automated cutting of diamonds;
- cutting of gems;
- 3D- modelling.
