The company was founded in 1963 and is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Company’s diamond reserve projects are located in South Africa and Angola.
The company’s land operations in South Africa include Lower Orange River operations situated along the banks of the Orange River. It includes Baken Trans Hex’s operation; The company’s Richtersveld operations include the Bloeddrif, Nxodap, and Gariep plants. The company holds approximately 11 300 square kilometers of concession areas off the South African coast. The operations are conducted through shallow-water surf zone and boat contractors. Shallow Water operations are situated around the De Punt and Port Nolloth processing plants on the South African West Coast.
The company’s land operations in Angola include - Luarica plant in which it has 35% interest; and Fucauma plant for full-scale mining, in which it has 32% interest in the project.
In 2008, the company discontinued deep-water marine operations that consisted of two mining vessels.
Trans Hex takes on exploration projects in South Africa, Angola and Liberia.
Trans Hex also owns a diamond polishing facility. A small-scale black economically empowered joint venture polishing factory, Urembo Diamonds (Pty) Limited, has been established in Johannesburg. The company is now in full production phase.
