Dilip Mehta is Rosy Blue Group CEO.
He was born on 13 November 1949 in Mumbai, India. Mehta joined the family business in 1970. In 1973, he spun off Rosy Blue from B.Arunkumar and Co, which he had founded with Bhanuchandra Bhansali. To begin with, Rosy Blue N.V. was to be an Antwerp-based satellite office for rough procurement and polished distribution.
Mehta’s contribution to the success of Rosy Blue is huge.
But by the mid-1980s, Rosy Blue had become a stand alone company headed by his youngest son Dilip, another departure from the usually hierarchical Indian tradition. "Even in the family, there was a sort of meritocracy," Dilip Mehta explains.
It wasn't that he was any better than his brothers Arun and Harshad, but he was deemed to have certain strengths and assets that were more suited to running the operations out of Antwerp while they handled the Indian end.
By the late 1990s, Rosy Blue was floating bond issues and securing international asset-backed securitization. The company philosophy was simply - bring in the best talent and be open and transparent.
In 2003, Rosy Blue took a big stride in the last mile of the diamond trade when it hooked up with the bridal clothing company Vera Wang to develop a diamond jewellery line.
Dilip’s efforts led to global expansion through Greenfield growth and acquisitions, resulting in sales, manufacturing and financing offices in 15 countries spanning 4 continents. He also delivered unprecedented results by growing the group turnover and created a new industry benchmark, confirmed Rosy Blue's leadership position in financial transparency, robustness and innovation through the securitization of inventory and receivables.
He transformed a manufacturer / trader office to a global marketer of a broad range of products and services, demonstrating the group's leadership in value-added, vertically integrated supply partner. You can say that 35 years of strong domestic and international P&L management experience driving market share, revenue and profit growth, made him a high-integrity, energetic entrepreneur and Senior Operating and Management Executive.
Dilip Mehta has a number of honorary titles and positions, being the Officer of the Crown Order of the Kingdom of Belgium, Gemological Institute of America Member of Board of Governors, Member of the Board of Directors of Vereniging van Handelaars in Ruwe Diamant, Council for Responsible Jewellery Practices Member of Board of Directors, etc.
